Ways to work with Community Groundwork
Community Groundwork offers reflective supervision, coaching and debriefing for people working across care, support, and community services. The aim is to make high-quality supports more accessible for individual workers, teams, and organisations.
We are starting with a focused set of offers and building carefully from there.
Reflective Supervision
What we mean by supervision
Supervision is a regular, structured, accountable relationship between a worker and a suitably experienced facilitator, distinct from day-to-day line management, in which practice is reflected on, standards are upheld, skills are developed, and the worker’s wellbeing is actively protected.
Trauma-informed — recognising that both the people receiving support and the workers providing it carry lived experience of trauma, and that supervision itself must not re-traumatise.
Evidence-based — grounded in peer-reviewed supervision science and recognised professional standards, not just convention.
Inclusive of diversity — actively accounting for race, culture, First Nations knowledges, LGBTQIA+ identity, neurodivergence, disability, and power differences within the reflective relationship itself.
Team supervision
Team supervision is for a team and its leader working together with a facilitator. It creates a structured reflective space to think about practice, pressure, communication, team dynamics, and the realities of the work together.
For teams, leaders, and organisation-supported groups.
Group supervision
Group supervision is for people working alone, across different settings, or wanting to strengthen practice in a particular area. We capture expressions of interest and bring together reflective practice groups around shared needs, themes, and pressures.
A more accessible option for individual workers.
Individual supervision
Individual supervision is one-to-one reflective practice with the same core focus: standards, boundaries, confidence, wellbeing, ethical practice, and sustainable work over time.
For workers who want a dedicated reflective space.
Coaching
Coaching is more future-focused and action-oriented, while still grounded in the realities of care and support work. It helps people strengthen leadership, make decisions, build confidence, and move forward with more clarity.
Individual coaching
Individual coaching is one-to-one support for people who want focused help with leadership, confidence, communication, decision-making, role transitions, or the next stage of their professional practice.
Focused support for your next step.
Leadership circle
A leadership circle is group coaching for people carrying similar leadership pressures. We match people into a small group with the right coach and a shared area of growth or challenge.
Group coaching with shared leadership focus.
Debriefing and post-incident support
Two kinds of support, one goal —
Helping your team recover and improve after a difficult event.
After a critical incident, teams need two different kinds of support: a look at what happened operationally, and a chance to check in on how people are doing. Community Groundwork offers both, so nothing falls through the cracks.
Psychological First Aid–informed support - Individual or team
A supportive, practical response for people affected by a difficult or distressing event — helping them feel safe, calm, connected and able to access further support if they need it. This is not counselling, treatment or trauma recounting — it’s humane, immediate, practical support delivered by trained facilitators.
Good for: checking in on staff wellbeing, reducing isolation after a hard event, and identifying who may need further support.
Format: offered as a short program of 3–6 sessions, for individuals or teams, giving people ongoing rather than one-off support as they process and recover.
Core action framework: LOOK, LISTEN, LINK
PFA is guided by three action principles:
Look — assess safety and identify who needs support.psychology
Listen — approach, listen actively, and help the person identify their immediate needs.psychology
Link — connect people with information, loved ones, and practical services.
Focused support for your next step.
Operational debriefing
A structured review of how an incident was managed — what worked, what didn’t, and what needs to change going forward. This is a practical, process-focused conversation with the team involved, not a discussion of personal or emotional experience.
Good for: reviewing incident response, behaviour support plans, safety protocols, and team decision-making after an event.
Format: a single facilitated session with the team, usually within 24–72 hours of the incident.
Not sure which one your team needs? Book a conversation and we’ll help you work it out.
Designed to be more accessible
Community Groundwork is being designed so meaningful reflective support is not limited to people whose organisation can fund it. Group supervision and leadership circles are part of making high-quality support more financially accessible for individual workers, including people working independently or in roles like NDIS support work.
